Charting

Stock market charts show how a share's price, and its trading volume, have moved over time: time runs along the horizontal axis and price or volume up the vertical axis. Bar, candlestick, point-and-figure and line charts are common types.

Traders use charts to study price trends and to plan when to buy or sell. Charts describe past prices; they do not predict future ones.
